Complete Dental Implants in Perth

Dental implants are biocompatible restorations made to mimic the function of natural tooth roots.

When a tooth is missing, an implant can be set into the area and support a permanent crown, bridge or denture. They’re ideal alternatives to traditional bridges and partial dentures, because of their ability to function independent of other teeth.

Healthier for Your Smile

Implants integrate with your body as new bone forms around them, fusing them permanently in place. This characteristic enhances the natural shape of the jaw, preventing a “sunken in” facial profile that’s typically associated with tooth loss.

Illustration of dental implantLiving with implants is easier than wearing a removable denture, in that an implant is designed to:

  • Provide a permanent alternative
  • Be stronger than natural teeth
  • Blend in with the teeth around it
  • Last for life
  • Strengthen the bone

The Implant Process

Getting implants involves a few different appointments, including surgical placement of the implant root, healing period and then final reconstruction with a fixed restoration.

Although implant placement does require a minor surgery, it’s typically easier and even more comfortable than having a tooth pulled! Most of our patients are quite surprised at how straightforward and efficient the process actually is.

As the implant integrates with the bone over the next few months, you’ll wear a temporary restoration for aesthetic purposes. About 3-6 months later, the permanent crown, bridge or denture will be affixed into place.

Are You a Candidate for Implants?

Before considering implant treatment, our family dentists will need to screen you for gum disease, decay and evaluate the amount of healthy bone support available.

At First Impressions Dental we recommend implants for individuals with fully developed smiles and a minimum age requirement of around 18 years old.
