New Patients
Positive Dental Experiences Start Here
At First Impressions Dental, we want new patients to feel comfortable, informed and supported from the very beginning. Your first visit is not only about examining your teeth. It is also about understanding your concerns, answering your questions and helping you feel more at ease with your dental care.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
New patient appointments usually take around 30 minutes. During this visit, the team will tailor the appointment around your main dental concerns and what you would like help with most. When you arrive, you will be asked to complete a few forms with your contact information and medical history. One of the dentists will then personally greet you and take you through to the clinical area.
The appointment is designed to feel thorough but manageable, especially for patients who may not have been to the dentist in some time.
A Personalised First Visit
At First Impressions Dental, the aim is to help you feel comfortable and relaxed. Time is taken to get to know you and discuss any specific concerns before recommendations are made. At the same time, the team also understands that many patients have busy schedules, so appointments are kept practical and efficient where possible.
Patient Stories
We love our patients, and we are happy to hear that they love us just as much!
Your Examination and Clean
After discussing your concerns, your dentist will perform a thorough examination and review the findings with you. If any recommendations are needed, they will be explained clearly so you understand what is happening and what the next steps may be.
The second part of the appointment is a scale and clean with one of the dentists, hygienists or oral health therapists. This gives new patients both an initial assessment and a practical starting point for their ongoing dental care.
What to Bring
When you attend your first appointment, it is helpful to bring your dental insurance or health fund card if you have one. Claims are processed through HICAPS, and First Impressions Dental can also bulk bill under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule and Veterans’ Affairs where applicable. Flexible payment options are also available.
If You Need Further Treatment
If your dentist identifies treatment that may be needed, they will discuss the findings with you and explain any recommended procedures. During check out, the reception team can help arrange your next visit. If multiple procedures are needed, it is up to you how quickly you would like to complete the next steps in your care.
This approach helps patients feel informed and in control, rather than rushed into decisions.
Putting Patients First
At First Impressions Dental, it is clinic policy that every staff member puts patients first. Care is delivered as carefully and considerately as possible, and patients are never pressured into treatment they do not want. It is always up to the individual and their family to decide the best options for their dental health.
For new patients, that kind of reassurance can make a real difference, especially when visiting a clinic for the first time.
